It’s Festival Season in the Heart of it All!

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Fall is THE season for fun in Boone County, with festivals, events and lots of family activities available every weekend through the middle of October.

Our Fall festival season kicks off with the annual Advance Labor Day Festival held (where else?) in the town of Advance – on SR 75 here in Boone County.

This festival gets better every year and grows with friends, neighbors, families and visitors coming together to enjoy the purported “World Class” pork sandwiches, fun & games for kids, live music and arts & crafts booths.

The Advance Labor Day festival runs for two days, September 6th and 7th. Admission is free.

Next on the Boone County Festivals list is the 56th Annual Zionsville Lions Fall Festival. The Fall Festival is Boone County’s most attended festival and when you consider all there is to do at this great event it’s no surprise.

The Fall Festival carnival, featuring amusement park rides, a games arcade and, my favorite, elephant ears, opens Friday night. Saturday morning at 11am begins the Kiwanis sponsored parade down Zionsville’s brick Main Street with bands, floats, celebrities and local groups welcoming the festival weekend.

This year’s Fall Festival features a Children’s Health Fair area, juried artwork, tents and booths featuring all kinds of items, a free concert by The Marlins Saturday night and both days,  the Pet Pavilion will have  shows by the 4H dog obedience group, the Flying Frisbee dogs and lots of booths with pet lovers’ products. Don’t miss the 7th Annual Dream Car Show on Sunday, too!

The Fall Festival is open Saturday and Sunday with a special LionPalooza event for teens on Saturday night featuring ComedySports show, DJ music and prize giveaways and a fireworks display. Sunday is “Wristband Day” at the Carnival where you can ride the rides all you want, all day long – for one low price.

We’ll be back to report on more fun for you and the whole family in Boone County this Fall. Hope you’ll find the time to come join us…right here, in the Heart of it All!
